Password Reset? Contacts backup - How to?

I own a verizon Blackberry Curve (8330?). I changed my password and locked it and now i cannot remember what i changed it too, and im on 8/10 tries. I dont want to wipe the phone.

    My two questions are:

    1. Can i back up my contacts, all my messages which include my BBMs(Blackberry messenger chats) ?

    and

    2. Is there anyway I can reset the password without resetting, even if it costs money, is there any WAY or SHAPE possible

For the the first question is no, because when you conect the phone to DM it detects is looked and will ask for the password.

For second question sure there are diff ways you can go to a repair verizon store and they probably can do it

    Sorbee,

Have you recently backed up your device?

Unfortunately I am going to guess there is no way to access your data without the password. This is a security issue and RIM takes its device security very seriously.

Go to a verizon store, they can verify that its your phone, and help you out.

    Sorbee,

One thought....If you are on BES I believe your administrator can reset your password OTA. Again, if you are on BIS I fear there is no way to bypass this, sorry.

You should call Verizon first to see what backup options they have. I know they can back up your contacts on their network, but your memo pad, and calendar are another issue.

With it locked, I don't think they're going to be able to do anything.

Quick thought, did you think you knew what it was and it just isn't working? Is there a chance caps or num lock is stuck on?

A good work around for the future once you resolve the issue this time is to use google sync.

Create a Gmail email account. Download the sync app to your BB and also download it to your desktop. This will allow the PC desktop app to sync your outlook to the gmail server and the gmail server will in turn sync to your bb.

I have used this method for a few months and never have any worries about losing my contacts database. Everytime I switch to a new bb, all I have to do is download the google sync app to my bb and I have instant access to my contact database that is always secure on the Google server. This way, it doesn't matter if your PC or BB ever goes down...you will always have your contacts and its always OTA two-way synced. You can also use this method to have OTA calendar syncing as well for those who don't have BES.

    Hi sorbee..

Carriers can't access any bb data which is behind a password. Don't think ud get much help from them too..

Even if there is an app/software, something has to be already installed into the blackberry prior to the lock out so it can listen in to ur command (BIS users)..

Can't even use it as an external usb harddrive without the password..

    Too bad..
