    Outlook sets up fine but wont sync

    Advertisement

    I have a 8300 and am using the Desktop Manager v4,3 and Outlook 2007. Everything sets up fine, the Device Manager sees the Blackberry and I am able to wipe it from the computer but when I try to sync with Outlook it starts processing then it ends. Nothing gets synced. I have 2 older blackberrys that work fine when I do the exact same thing.

    Any help is appreciated

    Does it give an error message when it stops syncing? Have you checked the sync log to determine what is happening?

    Thanks for the reply;

    The sync log is grayed out so it wont open, I checked with one of my other Blackberrys and the sync log happens once you have a successful sync.

    Did you set it to import, export or sync. Make sure it's set to sync.

    Did you answer about the error messages? I don't see it if you did.

    No error message, just stops. No error log is available.

    Are you syncing to the correct Outlook pst file? That's the only thing I can think of. In Outlook, from the tools list select Options, then the Mail Setup Tab. From there click on the Data Files button. Highlight the Personal Folder line and Click on settings. Copy the filename complete path.

    When you go to set up your sync in the Desktop Manager, make sure that that is the path DM is selecting for sync.

    After 2 weeks of reading and scouring the many Blackberry websites and forums my problems have been solved. My issue was all to do with an IT Policy that the previous owner had on the unit, most likely due to the company they were working for who was using Microsoft Exchange. An IT Policy isn't something that gets wiped out when you wipe your hand held and it you cant even get rid of it by upgrading the OS through the desktop software. This and this alone wouldn't let me sync my local Outlook file to my Curve that I bought on Ebay, it was just baffling!!! I was able to find a way to get rid of that policy, though it may not be easy for everyone (a little computer knowledge is needed, but not much), but it cleared things up for me. It also was a reason another Blackberry I bought on Ebay (8700c) wouldn't allow the voice record feature to work (VR+ voice recorder). If you search on the forums for IT Policy you should be able to find the way to fix things. Thanks to all who replied and gave their input. I hope this solves your problem before you spend 2 weeks trying to figure things out.
