    OS upgrading questions

I intend to upgrade my OS today. While I sit here in court awaiting the mentioning of my case I have a few questions. 1. Is it necessary to do a Javawipe of my phone first. 2. If I backup my phone by using the 4.3 DM will all my3rd party software be reinstalled with their respective configuration?3. Will I have to redo folders etc?

    Re: OS upgrading questions

    Well...here are a few answers....

    1) Nope, not necessary.
    2) Not necessarily. 3rd party apps tend to be hit and miss, make sure you have them on your desktop for a potential re-install after your upgrade. If you do have them on your Desktop the app loader will most likely identify them and they will be in your list of items to load after the upgrade.
    3) Probably not, but I would need more specifics about what folders you are using and concerned about...

Good luck with that court thing...

Ok I will go ahead with that. The folder I am talking about is where I have all my google apps stored. Keeps my homescreen somewhat clean.

    Vaughn,
How do you store icons in a desktop folder on your curve. I created a folder, now what? Thanks

Once you have the folder move the icons as normal except this time move it onto the folder. Press the trackball and it will move it to the desired folder.

Vaughhnq- I moved the icon in to the folder. After you click on the icon and open it how do you get it back into the folder?

    Re: OS upgrading questions

Jeff. I am not completely sure what you are asking, but here are some things to do:
    1. Go to the home screen(icon)
    2. go to the icon you want placed in the folder.
    3. Press the blackberry menu key (immediate left of trackball).
    4. Choose move.
    5. Move the icon until it is in the same space as the folder in which to be placed.
    6. Once on the folder press the trackball to place the icon in the folder.
    7. To access the programme thereafter go into the folder and select it just as normal.

    Re: OS upgrading questions

One last question. once you put an icon in the folder and you decide you no longer want it in there how do you take it out to stay on your desk top?
For example, when I close out ESPN it goes back into the the folder. Prior to doing that though, I'll click on "Move" in the Menu and ESPN will automatically go back in when I want to keep it out as a desktop icon again.

    Re: OS upgrading questions

Jeff. Its the same as before. When you go into the folder you created you will see a folder icon which has an up arrow. If you move the icon again on top of that one it goes outside. You can then come out of the folder and with the folder highlighted you can press the BB menu and delete it. Hope this helps.
