Opera Mini - am I missing something?

As soon as I picked up my Curve, I installed Opera Mini 4 based on feedback on various forums. So far I seem to have better luck and results with the built in Browser that came with the Curve.

Opera does not seem very intuitive and it is hard to navigate. Also may times I get an error while trying to access a site that the server is busy but the internal browser works great.

So I am missing something or maybe have not used it enough yet to realize the benefits? Are there many things it can do that the BB browser will not do?

    Thanks for an insight.

Opera will sometimes allow you to access many sites that the built-in browser will not. Personally, I prefer the built-in browser. However, many people swear by Opera. Are you able to call up some sites on Opera?

Thanks and thanks for the quick reply.

Yes I am able to get some sites no problem and usually if I retry the other sites long enough they will connect. My test site I was just working with was just the Yahoo main site. I eventually go there but will not connect as reliable as the built in.

I was hoping for an experience more like my desktop browser but not there yet. I am not ready to give up but probably just need to get more familar with it. Also just getting used to web browsing on a hand held.

{Edit} Just had a thought about the socket versus the HTTP option. Perhaps there were no free sockets left on the server I was connecting. I noticed that socket is the default setting.

I was looking for more info on the features but the Opera site was a little lacking.

I know personally I'm waiting for a Firefox browser for our BB's.

I'm sure other Opera users will be along soon to share.

I have had Opera installed and no loger bother with it...I also have found the built in browser meets most all of my needs.

Thanks for the feedback. I will do the same for now until I run into something that the internal cannot do.

One advanced feature I was hoping Opera would do is use a private certificate I loaded but so far cannot get it to work. Turns out the internal browser detected it and used it without any additional configuration.

Personally I like having Opera there just in case the default browser doesn't want to load something. Otherwise I just use the default browser.
