You need an app like eOffice available here: http://blackberryshop.pinstack.com/product.asp?id=944 to read office docs (.xls = excel)

Isn't there any freeware program just to view xls attachments?

    Re: Opening xls

I am able to open xls without anything other than the standards included on the device (I am using Empower as well so maybe it has a hand in it, but I don't think so). Are you on BES and maybe your BES has a policy in place limiting acces or abilities with xls files?? I am not on BES, just normal BIS.

    Re: Opening xls

My appologies, I did not test it on my 8130 since I was not able to open them on my 8703e but on the 8130 I can open and view them. Check like squeakr states or possibly update your OS

I've been using GridMagic by Simprit. Its a spreadsheet program and best of all, its free.
