    Offline GPS - Trekbuddy

Hey i dont know if a lot of people know about this but i had seen this really well made tutorial back in december and couldnt find it anymore till earlier today :

    http://www.medicalnerds.com/how-to-i...rekbuddy-0973/

This thing works like a charm on my 8310 and allows me to have an offline map viewer that shows my location !!
To give you an approximate : a map for Ottawa, ON Canada was around 900kb which is nothing lol (i was just scared of getting a map too big lol) Im gonna download north america later tonight and let u know how big it is.

Edit : You cant just download ONE BIG MAP you have to download a full map per city as its perfect zoom for a city or half a big city but not zoomed enough for a country. I just did Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto and it took 3.5mb lol. AMAZING !!

    There you go guys !!

Wow It is pretty neat, but it takes alot of work to get the maps downloaded if you live ina large city.

I'm trying to download this and set it up, but I'm running into trouble. I followed the link from the Trekbuddy website to download the ALX & COD files, but I can only get the COD file. When I clicked the link to get the ALX file, it took me to a page that had the program typed out. Am I supposed to copy that & past it somewhere?

hopefullly I can get it to work this time since this is the only remaining reason I'd ever need a data plan on rogers

take a look of googleak, a program to do the job, you can create an atlas of an whole area.
I just made a map from google maps from whole Belgium and it is running great. It took me 5 minutes to do the job + 5 minutes for downloading the maps.

    here is a good tut:
