Noob question about OS upgrade, Vodafone UK, Please help !

Posted this elsewhere as I really need some help.

Ive had a look around the forum and im still stumped so please help me out.

Picked up my new 8900 yesterday and my number will be ported tomorrow so i wanted to put the latest official OS on the handset before I start loading it with apps.

The link from Vodafone UKs website took me to RIMs download page where it showed me this version as being the latest official release for Vodafone UK:

    8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel217_PL4.2.0.85_A4.6.1.133_Vodafo ne_UK

I had already installed V4.6 of the device manager to my PC so I thought that I would simply have to click on the file above and I would be guided through the upgrade process.

What actually happened when I clicked on the file was that v4.6.1 of device manager was installed to my PC and that seemed to be it

On top of that the device manager then didn't seem to be recognizing the 8900 when plugged in. The USB connection is ok because it asked me something about storage and I had a little lightening bolt through the battery icon but in the bottom left corner of device manager there was no PIN !

So I have now completely removed device manager from my PC and want to start again.

Can someone please talk me through how to get the Vodafone uk V133 OS onto my handset ?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Bully and Welcome to Pinstack!

Well you were probably half way there. You will need device manager at some time, and probably want to re-install it. You also need the new operating system installed on your PC (probably at the same link where you found device manager). Before you go through that though, have you checked to make sure the OS you are trying to download is indeed newer than the OS on your device? Check that by going to Options, About and read the 3rd line down v4.4.x.x.x.xx

Simpler way. After checking version of os, downloadn installn go to c:common files/research in motion/app loader. Delete vendor.xml, double click on loader.exe and it shd take care. Keep ur 5., don't del it
