    No Email, No Device Software

    Hello,

Two problems with my BlackBerry Curve.

    1. I can't setup an email. There is no Email Setup on device' desktop.
    2. I don't have the device software.

I live in Vancouver, Canada so I bought my BB from Craigslist. It is a T-mobile phone and unlocked. (Curve 8320)

There is no Email Setup on the desktop. When I tried to use the email setup under Setup Wizard, I only get two options

-I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server
-I want to skip email setup

There's one thing missing right? The...

-I want to add or create email address

    So that's the first problem.

I thought I'd find solution to that from the CD BlackBerry Desktop Software but I only found a second problem. I have the Desktop Software installed but when I click on "Application Loader"
I get this error: I get this error: tinypicDOTcom/8dyeh6u.jpg

"The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have the BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

I read the forums and found out I need a device software. Where do I get that? I tried getting it from the T-mobile website but its asking me for a phone number. I don't have one you see.

So what's the solution here? How do I get the email to work? How do I make the software work so I could do things with this phone?

Re: No Email, No Device Software

ashley -- you don't necessarily need the tmo software for your bb.

so, from reading your thread, i can only assume that you have an 8320? since its an unlocked tmo bb?

here is the latest OS for your device:

i would uninstall anything you have in control panel>add/remove programs pertaining to blackberry and start over.

you can download the latest version of DM here:

    good luck

Re: No Email, No Device Software

For starters, you need a BlackBerry Data Plan, and if you want (can use) Enterprise email, it must be an Enterprise Data Plan (for most providers).

If you want to use Enterprise email, your company must have a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and set you up with an account. If they do not have a BES, you can't use Enterprise Email.

If your company has Web Access to your corporate email, you need to check with your IT department to see if they allow your BlackBerry to access it.
