No BIS or BES... Setting up email on a 8330
I have had a few blackberry models on sprint plans all without BIS or BES. Using the fair and flexable plan with unlimited data and texting plus a few apps works just as well. opera mini, gmail app, beejive messenger, etc.
I am interested if anyone has found a way to use email as if BIS or BES were setup. Is there a place to download service books or possible a work around to use smtp/pop? I would love to find a way around the "no message services configured. you will only be able to save a draft" message when composing an email using the default email system in the blackberry.
the gmail app is great and all but more integration would be nice!
Sorry but....the blackberry email applications on your device interact with RIM Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) to allow "push" email service. This requires not just web access but a Blackberry Data Plan in order to work.
yeah i was just wondering if someone figured out a work around or if theres a way to simply use pop with the integrated email stuff. ive known this for years now...
This website has the modified service books and instructions you need: bb.anworm.com. It enables Internet access for any applications that can use generic TCP/IP plus the browser and email.
AMAZING! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I GOT MY FIRST BB?! lol thank you. this enables me to use the bb browser and push email just like i was looking for!
