Hi guys & gals....the instructions indicate this upgrade is for 8300 OS 4.2.2.265 but I still have the original (with memory leaks) 4.2.2.89 Can I upgrade directly to this new OS or do I have to install .265 first? Really appreciate this forum and read it diligently each AM. Thanks for all your comments.

    Hi BestWitted............
You can definitely upgrade directly. No need to install .265 first.

Thanks, I may hold off on this update. I've got everything so perfectly with .173.

Is it possible for me to install this update?
I'm with T-Mobile but I work in an area where T-Mobile's signal is weak at best and the stronger AT&T signal always shows up as SOS.

Yes. OS upgrades are phone dependent - not carrier dependent

It seems that you are using an 8320. As the poster above said, the upgrades are device dependent. An 8320 is not an 8300 so, if you do have an 8320, this update will not work.

Yup, figured that out after making vain attempts to upgrade.
Guess I'll be waiting for our wifi to be installed in a few months.

Need help!!! I just tried to upgrade to the latest OS. The Desktop Manager finished loading and now I'm stuck with the white screen of death with the rotating hourglass. How do I get my phone to re-start?? Any help would be appreciated!!

Just give it time. It can take between 10 and 20 minutes to come back to life.

yeah this is the phone botting up... think of it like installing windows on your PC, as it is coming up for the first boot it takes a bit because it building a registry... the phone does the same.

Just so I am up to speed on the whole upgrading thing... I can upgrade from any carrier as long as the software is for a 8310(which is what I have)? Also are the 8310 and 8320 software compatible with each other? My guess is yes because I think I have TMo OS on my AT&T phone

yes, you can upgrade to any carrier OS you choose, but yes, it doesn HAVE to be 8310

the 8320 won't work on your bb ... as i have already tried. DM doesn't recognize it as a compatible OS for the 8310

Question Re: NEW AT&T OS available for BB CURVE 8300 version 4.2.2 release 301

I have the ATT 8310. I checked the OS that is in it and it says: v4.2.2.170 Platform 2.5.0.30
From the post about the new upgrade it seems as though much of the improvement is in the PTT which I do not use. Should I still do the upgrade? Other than PTT are there other benefits? I do have the latest DM 4.3

if your bb is running fine, no memory dumps or java errors, then i would leave it alone

if you have an hour or so on your hands and your are bored, then upgrade it definately won't hurt anything

this is the most recently released OS for the 8310 anyway...if you are going to upgrade, i'd go all the way

Re: NEW AT&T OS available for BB CURVE 8300 version 4.2.2 release 301

I have been getting periodic error messages which I believe are java errors (small rectangle in center of screen with an error number in it). WHen you mentioned that it is the most recent release...did you mean the 4.2.2 release 301? Where is the best (safest ) place to download it from?

    thanks
