    New Memory Card

Today I bought a 4 gig memory card and installed it myself... I know this doesn't sound like a big deal - but trust me, being able to buy the right thing and put it in and it actually works is a big deal to me. lol

The only question I have is in the memory card manager it says there is 3.7gigs available. Have I already used .3 of a gig or is the card short of the full 4?

Here is my Curve, I heart it

Great job, nothing wrong with your card. It simply has some spaced used up as it's already formatted & ready to use. Perfectly normal.

    Enjoy!

    Hi, thanks...

No I didn't format it.. I just put it in, replaced the battery and then went into the media card - changed support to on, changed prompt to yes.

How do I format and more importantly, what does it all mean? lol

It still shows 3.7 gigs though.

You don't have to format it. The card comes preformatted. For an explanation (it's too long for me to describe using my BB, but you can google it)

Well it's done now and hopefully will work okay

I have seen people mention dowloading movies to their blackberry, where would one find movie downloads? I was thinking of downloading a couple to kill time in the airport waiting for my flight connections.

As mentioned earlier, that's normal. You will never see a 4GB card with 4GB available , it's impossible. Use Google & learn about storage media. Hard drives are the same way as mentioned earlier.

what they mean dowloading movies its more like uploading movies. But you have to convert them from you Dvd using either media manager on blackberry video converter or software like such into a resolution that will fit into the blackberry that you have and then uploading it to your phone using your pc. So that option to download straight to your phone is not availiable on GSM provider like att or tmobile. I know sprint has some kind of video feeds availiable but have never used it before since am a tmobile customer.

it has to do with a Kilobyte being 1024 bytes. when you extrapolate the math out to a GB level, a GB is actually less than 1 due to the "24" bytes

    Casserole,

Try this site - the videos are formated for your BB and can be downloaded and then placed onto your media card (use mass storage mode)
