To install this software on any GSM Curve:

    1. Download and install the latest Desktop Manager from here

    2. Download and install the OS packaged linked above.
    3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    4. Connect BB, open Desktop Manager and you should be prompted to upgrade.

***Note: This OS works on any Curve, however, as with previous OS's TMo users may not get a browser service book. It is an issue with TMo/service books and no fix is in sight yet. For TMo users the latest version with available service books for the browser is the version from O2.

::edit:: java folder to make BT audio to work
please see instructions in link on post #16
Maybe a couple of dumb questions but after reading this whole thread I didn't see the answer so I'll ask anyways.

    1. I know it says "chinese" next to the download, does it automatically install in english or am I going to have to figure out chinese somehow and change the language? What's the deal with that?

    2. Getting rid of PTT is the same as it was before? Change the file and get rid of vendor file? Have to delete vendor anyways now so not really an issue.

    3. Extra themes I had before will still be there when I restore my information to the new OS?

    Thanks for any help.

    1. English is the default.
    2. Same as before.
    3. Use Cherri's blackberry.alx file listed above

    Great.

#3 Follow up, will extra themes(not unlocked vendor themes) reinstall when I restore from the backup I made before OS change.

Thanks for the help. Not real sure of what I'm doing here, just want to make sure I don't turn my phone into a brick or end up having to get everything again, would be kind of a pain.

Is that just for streaming the Bluetooth, and not using a BT handset for regular phone calls?

I'm still debating if I want to upgrade--I finally got Optus to be stable...

Re: new curve OS from vodafone v4.2.2.265/4.2.2.146

Ok, so I went through with the upgrade today. Upgraded from AT&T OS. So far everything seems to be working fine(was fighting the AT&T memory leak issue), only time will tell though. Here are my experiences and steps and a couple of last questions.

    1. Don't try to uninstall PTT in the upgrade process, I tried it and bricked my phone for about a half hour. Uninstalled the OS from the computer, re-installed, re-upgraded leaving PTT in, worked fine.

    2. Took a really long time to come back up after successfull OS upgrade attempt(~20 minutes) it came up fine eventually but be patient(I know it's really hard).

    3. i-Berry theme was kind of screwy when my Curve finally came back up, Many icons and applications were missing and applications folder was compleately empty. Solution: Switch to AT&T theme(all icons and applications present), do a battery pull, switch back to i-Berry theme, all is well.

    4. Profiles were totally messed up, it wasn't backing up profiles very well to begin with no matter what I tried, not really a surprise but relatively easy to fix. It's fixed now.

    5. Everything re-installed fine including messages and 3rd party apps.

That's about it, a learning experience for sure, but all is well and working now.

    Follow up questions:

    1. Maybe I missed it somewhere but how exactly do I get rid of PTT on this OS? Is is just replace the platform.alx file like with the AT&T OS?

    Thanks for the help everybody.

I'm just wondering, but, is there any way to change particular icons so that they match with the new vodaphone theme? My yahoo refuses to stay red, and it just sticks out like a sore thumb.
