Need to "borrow" your 8320 service books...

I am putting together a work-around for us indentured...err AT&T customers, for the new IM clients that came with the 8320. I've already been able to load the apps onto my 8300. AT&T only provisioins for the Google Talk service book. I have the Y! Messenger service book, and that app is working perfectly.

Now, I just need someone that has all 4 of the IM apps working on their 8320 to help out with the other service books. If you're willing to help the cause, just PM or email me. (Email link is in my sig)

    Thanks

I dont think they will work.... I had those same clients on my Pearl and they never work because once the servers cant authenticate device with the right carrier is ultimately blocked. Rogers had MSN messenger for a while and people had the service books for that service but it never worked. The service books are tmobile service books is what I am getting at

All of the service books for AIM,MSN, ICQ have TMO name in them........

Yahoo and Google are Rim issued IM's for all carriers

Well, AT&T doesn't have a service book for Y! Messenger, plus they block their users from downloading the app from the RIM site. However, I am currently running that app on my AT&T locked 8300. (I'm signed in as russcrypto, if you wanna check) So, I know they will work.

Their ability to function isn't really the issue. I just need to get my mitts on them, so all the AT&T 8300 users can unlock one more function that "the man" has kept us from.

I know but what I saying is that the Yahoo and Gtalk service books are generic carrier service books. IF you obtain the service books it will work but for the rest it wont

Msn rogers wont work carrier specific

Msn tmobile wont work carrier specific

Aim tmobile wont work carrier specific

icq tmobile wont work carrier specific

yahoo will work with any carrier. Its generic service book

gtalk will work with any carrier its generic service book

Do you know for sure that they won't work? Have you even tried to use those service books on an AT&T 8300?

    I'm guessing not.

I'm not quite sure I understand why it is that you're trying to convince me that they won't work.

What about them? Those are simple to get, and won't help with what I'm trying to do.

Re: Need to "borrow" your 8320 service books...

She saying why cant you just use any service book and load onto a phone and make it work. If I gave you tmo mms service books would it work with att?????????? Or tmo Im messaging service book.

Again AIM, MSN and ICQ on the 8320 are Tmobile exclusive service books..........Rogers has had msn for the last 3 or 4 months but their service book was for them not anyone else.

You are trying to circumvent the service book to work on att and it just wont work... Tmobile service books are tmobile service books. Yahoo and gtalk are RIm service books not Tmo or Att , Nextel etc etc

I appreciate the fact that you think I'm wrong, but I didn't start this thread to argue with anyone about the validity of my idea.

I don't appreciate you jacking my thread. If you'd like to, you can create your own thread and make your point there.

    Thanks BlackBerry8800!

It would probably be easier to explain via email. My signature has a link for my email in it.

P.S. You'll need to be able to use DM to extract the service books.

    Russ -

lbsevydiva was referring to no MMS service books being available for unlocked use on ATT... can you tell us or assist with getting them on our unlocked 8320's?

@ lbsevydiva, I'm sorry. I didn't understand your question earlier. I wasn't trying to be rude, I just didn't know about that issue.

I believe I will be able to help with this, but not until I get home tonight.

I'll be updating about this later.
