My Thinkpad won't connect to my curve

    Hardware:
    IBM Thinkpad X40 1.2GHZ, 1.24GB Ram running WinXP SP2
    Tmobile Curve 8320

    Problem:
When I plug my curve into my thinkpad, the thinkpad doesn't recognize the device. The charging indicator on the phone also goes off after a few seconds, I assume this is related since I have read that the desktop manager software is supposed to regulate power.

    Tried:
Works on other computers (two dell desktops) - so it is not the curve
Bought a new USB cable and it didn't work either - so it is not the cable
Reset the computer a few times
Reinstalled Desktop Manager a few times - now using 4.2.2.14
Deleted a second instance of RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (the remaining instance is set to com5, 9600 8N1 no flow control w/driver v2.1.0.4)
Turned off power management on all 4 USB Root Hubs
Tried using the other USB port
Disabling infrared port from device manager
Removing Harmony Remote Controler software (also could use USB port)
    Turned AntiVir Guard off
Check w/TMO to make sure I have latest software on the phone v4.2.2.171

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!!

Desktop manager is all you should need.
Do you have any other USB devices you can connect?
Look at your desktop manager settings, see if you can access stuff from your phone...

I'm using my tmo curve on my laptop: 1.4 Ghz, 512mb, xp sp2....works fine via usb connection.

Sounds like you could have a bad usb port(s) on ur thinkpad? Since, it does work on the other computers you connected to. That's my only thought.

Possible, but I did try both USB ports and other devices have been working fine including a treo and a harmony remote control.

In control panel, systems->hardware->device managers, do you see any conflicts under ur USB controller ie "?'s"? If there are conflicts you should try to remove them.

    Device Manager isn't flagging any.

I have 4 Intel 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controllers and 4 USB Root Hubs. They all claim to be working properly under device status.
