    mp3 on curve issue

    Hey all,

I emailed an mp3 file to my bb curve, thinking I could retrieve the attachment and play it right on my curve. When I tried to retrieve the attachment, I was given an error message.

Then, thinking that the email/retrieve-as-attachment/play thing could not be done, I tried to transfer the mp3 to my curve with desktop manager. I was told I didn't have enough space. (Yes, I was sure to select "transfer to device" rather than "transfer to media card", as I don't have the latter.)

In the status menu, it shows that I have 21 MB free space.

Can anyone help me with this issue? Thank you!

I would invest in a Media Card, but how big is the file you were trying to transfer?

There is a size limit on how large the mp3 file can be. I think its 3,000 kb
Cingular is now the new at&t

I don't think RIM has changed the rules on emailed files, typically you can't email mp3s to someone. The blackberry will not open the file. The same with OTA downloads, 300kb (just enough for a ringtone) was the max allowed size you could download from the net.

I think RIM has made the media card the only way to access a full blown mp3

    Re: mp3 on curve issue

Thanks for the advice all...the mp3 is 4.5 MB...

Are you saying that if i had a media card, then I could play the file both by RETRIEVING it as an attachment AND transferring it over via desktop manager? Or just one or the other?

And can one generally SAVE attachments?

    Thanks for the help...

No, it will not let you do much with it except forward it. You have to use the Roxio media manager or just drag and drop onto the media card.
Can not save the mp3 anywhere.
