From what I know, I don't think that you can have a noise go off ... All I know is an LED notification, but you have to look at your phone
I suggest that you get a high pitched ringtone
For example, I have the ringtone from 1 missed call the american version. It always gets to me, even in my sleep

I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Shouldn't your phone be ringing then if you don't pick it up you get a missed call. So I'm curious why you need it to inform you that you missed it?
The Blackberry isn't like an old Nokia, it doesn't continue to beep until you clear off a missed call or a SMS. The Blackberry is a business phone and if I miss a call and I am near my phone, I intentionally "missed" that call. If I was not around my phone, for whatever reason, when I get back to my phone, I look at it to see if I have any missed calls or messages.

I'm new to BB and noticed that too when I missed call and the phone was in my jacket. The good news..there is third party app called BBAlerts that would remind you of missed calls, sms etc.
