    Memory Leak under New OS

So I just upgraded to 4.5.081 and while I don't see a huge difference from .69, the apps do load faster and it seems to be smoother in general. However I am still seeing a fairly large memory leak. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Sorry if this is on here already! Thanks in advance.

All OS's keep a running "Event Log". You have to change the event log to not store any events errors. Hold down 'alt' & L,G,L,G. Once in the event log uncheck all events and Save. This Event Log usually uses allot of memory. After doing this, You want to check your settings for the "Memory Cleaning". Go to options> Security> Memory Cleaning and set it up there to clean the memory every 5 minutes. This should all help to save memory.

Let me know if this works for you or not........

    evad,

Do you use 3rd party apps? If you don't close out of these apps properly, they are left running in the background, utilizing memory.

To check for this, press and hold the left Alt button, then press the Esc button (to the right of the trackball). Each time you press the Esc button it will switch you to the next running application. I know that Google Maps uses a lot of memory loading maps.

Stnky already gave you the clue on how to stop the event log from piling up.

This thread and this one also offer more tips on how to free up memory.

Battery pulls and soft resets (left Alt, right Shift, Del simultaneously) will clean up your memory and should be performed regularly.

I don't run many 3P apps, just the usual Viigo, sometimes Google Maps, Pinstack launcher. I do a battery pull usually once a day or so. I will try to close out some applications and see what I can free up. As always, thanks for all of your help!!!

What exactly does the Memory Cleaning setting do? What does it delete?

    Justin H.,

    Memory Cleaning cleans...

    Address Book Cache
    Certificate Search
    Certificate Status Manager
    Clipboard
    Content Protection Cache
    Encrypted Messages
    Key Store
    PGP Key Search

    It's completely harmless.

Make sure you close Viigo completely after you're done. Don't hit the back button, go to menu and close. That way it saves everything then it will take a few seconds to close.

Yep, that's how I close everything out. I didn't have much stuff running in the background. That memory cleaning helped though. My memory has increased by 5x today!
