I am running 4.5 on my 8310. I want to get a 8gb sd card. Will I have to do anything special in order for my curve to read all 8gb? Thanks.

Nope, not really. Do you already have a card? Once you install it, your device should recognize it and you'll see it in your Options. Go ahead and format the card in your device, then check out the settings and set them to your preference.

I currently have a 4gb card. I did not know if I should or should not format my 8gb with curve? I appreciate your help.

Yeah, I have a 4gb card right now, too. Can't hurt to format the new card in the device to avoid potential issues.

I have an 8g in my 8310 and didn't have to format it, and it is working like a charm...

I have an 8g and my curve could read 7.6 g free after formatting... only 7.5 before formatting. Strange I know, but formatting makes it easier to transfer files when the card is already in the phone.

+1 for formatting, always a good thing to do when swapping cards if you dont need whats on it.

I also have a question about SD cards, I was hoping to upgrade my 512mb to a 4 or 8gb and I noticed that there are also SDHC cards, would these ones work as well? Or should I just stick with a reg SD card. Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure all the newer cards are SDHC and yes, they will work.

I've recently installed a 4GB SHDC card into my BB-8310 and it was recognised by the BB as such. However, I formatted it using the Panasonic SDFormatter before I put it in my BB.

Is there any significant difference between a SD and a SDHC card? is one recommended over the other?

The sdhc is just high capacity its the second generation of sd cards if I remember correctly its anything over 4gb.I think they said that the highest theoretically sdhc could have is 2tb.

I read in another post today that the max capacity that the 4.5 OS allows is 32GB.

I heard a nasty little rumor that Radio Shack had a $19.99 special on their 4gb media cards. It might just be my local store, but I'd check it out anyway.
