    Loose faceplate?

I have a Red 8310 and the lower portion of the face plate around the keyboard feels a little loose...it's not solid like the upper half.

    Anyone else have this issue?

If youre talking about the antenna cover, then yeah... I got a little creative with some electrical tape and fixed the creaky looseness. Just thought I would shoot that at ya. Remember to use a sharp razor or shears to cut the tape.
Ugh, couldnt think of anything to change it to.

Not really, my case feels solid all the way around.

    Re: Loose faceplate?

I am having this issue, and I'm past my 30 days with AT&T, so I called and they're sending me a new one (well, reconditioned, according to RIM's rules that they were explaining to me). My side rails are loose, the bottom of the faceplate slips back and forth, and the little piece that says "at&t" on the bottom of the phone feels like a loose tooth.

The build quality in these devices is really inconsistent, because my sister and brother-in-law both have Curves, and theirs are rock-solid. Hopefully my replacement will fare better.

    Re: Loose faceplate?

My antenna cover is a liiitle loose, everything else is rock solid. On my 8320 one side of the rubber was just starting to creak, but I haven't had any problems w this one. (Knock on wood). I wish they had the chrome side-rails like the 8100 and 8800. Sounds like a good aftermarket idea; I would definitly buy it
Btw, how DO you get the antenna cover off? I'm still trying to figure out why RIM put the antenna on the bottom of the phone.

Oh, so that thing is the antenna cover? Weird. I didn't know that.

Well, regardless, I should have my new Curve by this afternoon. Hope it's not creaky too.

That's exactly the same description as mine...

    Re: Loose faceplate?

Well, I got my new one yesterday, and the rails on this one, while tighter and not squeaky, still bow in and out when I squeeze them. Also, the faceplate, while not loose, sits slightly non-symmetrical, by which I mean, there is a tiny gap on one side that isn't on the other.

Also, I now have a dead pixel on the display.

    *sigh*

I guess I'm just fated to have annoying issues with every Curve I get.

Of course, I can always got through this process again, as much as I want, until my warranty is up... :P
