Is this a personal device or a work device on a BES? If this is a work BB or has an IT policy that will prevent you from disabling it. More details will be helpful.

Do you see little red lock icons on some options that prevent change?

Unfortunately no, without the matching password it can't be unlocked and the info cannot be recovered. If you enter the wrong password 10 times then the info will be wiped and the password keeper reset. Then you can start over, but all info will be gone.
