The OS allows users to install applications and modify the OS settings on the BB. Without it installed on the PC you will get a "No additional applications" error when trying to install apps.

This is the same version that comes on the current BB's from VZW. You need to download this and install it on the PC along with the DeskTop Manager in order to install apps and themes as I stated above.

OK. Sorry. 1. I am Verizon, not Sprint. Any problems updating software? and 2. There are 2 downloads listed as available in the drop down for the 8330. WHich one do I use? Again, Thanks.

1: I am with VZW also and yes you can use the Sprint update, the version is the same as VZW but the platform is newer. Uninstall your old OS from the PC, install this one and delete the vendor.xml file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. Then run desktop manager.

2: There is only one 8330 listed, the other is the 8830 which is a different model.

Got it. It's the one listed as "Blackberry 8330 (TM)". But it is Sprint specific. What about for Verizon?

No can do. I am a Mac user. I'll go to Verizon if I have to.

Since you are on a Mac, just do a search on the pc for the file vendor.xml and delete it. You can use any vendors os as long as it is for your model and you delete that file.
