so when my bb arrives tomorrow morning, thanks to harry3334, i will be loading that OS for sure

the OS doesn't have to be carrier specific. IF you are loading an OS that isn't your own carrier, then remember to delete the vendor.xml file
If I load the new OS on my new curve, 8310, will I LOOSE PTT? I use it so I dont want to loose it. I will be loading Vodafone 4.2.2.176 but only if it DOES NOT delete my PTT?? Will it??

    Thank You
    Art
P.S. I now have the 8820. Are the screen size the same on the 8310 as the 8820? Reason I want to switch is that I rather have a camera over WIFI.

You are fine art. The only way to remove ptt is to go into java folder. So you are good to go

I wonder if this will actually install fine on the 8320. I would think so since it is the 2.5.x.x platform. Whatcha think? Well, what does anyone think?

Thank You! I guess I have to do a restore to my 8310 from my 8820. Hope thats ok. If I had both BB here at once, I could have just done a SWITCH.

    thanks to green

no other information there, unless someone else can figure out where to find it...

    For unlocked themes: blackberry.alx file
click, save as...browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8310-v4.2.2.176_P2.5.0.34 and save file. should be prompted to save over existing file.
If there is a need to revert back to the previous operating system how easy is that please?

Yes. But at this point it would have to be in the form of a wipe from the handheld then a restore from backup. Only bc the current os that att released on the 8310 is not avail for download. Otherwise, if the prev is avail for download then you would just uninstall the new os on your pc, install old and dm will recognize earlier os and ask you to downgrade.

    Hope that makes sense

Is there anything to be gained by upgrading OS at this time? Is it faster?

What's the benefit of the newest OS? Will it remove all of that AT&T crap? Does it improve performance?

Thanks in advance!!! I'm new so I'm just trying to learn all that I can.

what ATT crap are you talking about? if you mean the media mall stuff, then no...those are sent as service books...you can go in and delete the service books, but they will come back if you have to resend...i would just hide those icons and play like they aren't there (they don't take up memory)

benefit would be an upgrade to your device (out of the box) OS
