You can alt+enter to lock the screen, or set one of your convenience keys to do it.

If you have "dial from home screen" disabled, the K key will lock the keypad. Or holding down the Mute button on top will put the phone into standby, but won't lock it.

On my 8310, if I press alt+enter, it brings me to the language selection option.

Same here on the 8320. I seem to remember using that shortcut a while back though. Can't remember if that was the 8700 or the 7100.

You've got to turn off your input language shortcut. I don't recall where this option is.

I found just using the left side convenience key worked best for me.

BTW, to answer your initial question, you will have to naviagate back to the homescreen to lock the keypad is from the homescreen or convenience key. YOu can't lock it from the media player.

Wow this is one of the best app missing from the OS. Thank you for this find.
