Just got the call from my friend to pick mine up...

... and what should I do to ensure my data is good to go? I am on a Mac which I sync info with. But I also have a PC with the BB DM installed so I can add applications that aren't OTA. I was thinking that I should:

    a) Sync with my Mac one more time.

    b) Do a full backup to my PC via the BB DM.

    Does this sound right?

And will it be as simple as plugging my Curve in and syncing to get all my info restored?

    Thanks in advance.

BTW, I am getting mine in NorCal .. San Jose area.

Ah c'mon guys! I know you have some advice you BB experts. ;-)

I saw that on the BB DM on my PC there is a swap a device program. So I am running that now and I figure I will just pause it when it get to the point of wanting to sync the new BB. When I get home with the 8300, I can resume the process and it shoudl work right?

I am not bothering with backing up the non-system apps because they are made for an 8100.

I don't know if you can pause it, but yes, the swap device function should work...

That's what I used and it worked fine. And I too did not include the 3rd party apps for the same reason

when you say sync - like contacts and stuff, you will have to do that separately...at least i did. the switch device didn't restore any of my contacts or calendar items.

    richard...did yours?

Cherri, The swap device feature transfered all my personal data. Including my contacts (address book), my calendar and my BB messenger contacts.

I'm giving my Pearl to my wife when I pick up my Curve, what is the best way to wipe the pearl clean of my personal info(ie:address book, emails and messenger contacts) without loosing all the 3rd party apps.?

Hi scboatman, Im positive there aint any option just to wipe off personal info on any BlackBerry device, you should just wipe it clean and have the apps reloaded when you give it to your wife.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am in the middle of getting my info restored via the "Switch Device Wizard". I will let you know the results I have. If you have a PC, this is by far the best wayt o go it seems. I really wish RIM would support us Mac people -- we are really nice. ;-)
