Interesting "Open Tunnel - Failure" chat w/ AT&T tech support

I had had some changes to my account last week and started getting the dreaded "Error: Open Tunnel - Failure" messages when trying to use BBWeather and some other TCP apps. Many of the suggestions I found on here didn't fix the problem (updating apn, reinstalling apps, etc.). So I give AT&T tech support a call this morning, explained to him that I actually found a few messages on their forums indicating that WAP will often get hosed after account changes are made. He said that from his end, the WAP provisioning looked correct/OK, but he would refresh the WAP provisioning for me. As soon as he did that, my TCP apps were working again. BBWeather now says it's going to be damned hot today in Houston.

Total time on the phone with tech support: less than 10 minutes (including the time to be transferred from the level 1 techs to the "real" tech support guys)

I will admit, our CS has some issues if you don't get the right person (Some of the CS reps are really good, but not enough). But our Tech Support team is top notch, normally pretty quick on getting the job done.

But there was that one moron I got a hold of once.......................

I do have to say - I was pretty impressed with both the Level 1 gal I spoke with and the "real" tech support guy. It was refreshing to speak to a couple of CS representatives that were American and spoke English as their first language.

It is nice, I'll tell you what...there is a world of differance for us in the stores when we get connected to the Indian office, or the one right here in Bothell. I find myself just hanging up as soon as I get connected to India. I call again untill I get Bothell and tell the customer I'm having troubles connecting.
