There's a trade-off w/My Fave's -- you can have any five ppl, any network, as part of your flat-rate plan - unlimited calling to them - but you cannot ALSO have free nights & weekends at the same time. You have to choose one options OR the other - they can't coexist.

Re: switching - most thoughtful advice re carriers has always been to check coverage for YOUR needs first - doesn't matter what the average user reports, what most users report, etc. Yeah - I know - obvious when you think about it...

I've had T-Mobile since before they were T-Mobile (Voicestream). Had been with BAM (Bell Atlantic Mobile - predecessor to Verizon), had been w/Cellular One, AT&T and others pre Voicestream. Once I switched, and ever since, the overall experience has been excellent. Every year when my contract is up, I get online and research others' experiences in my service areas, I look at the phone offerings, and I compare notes with my friends who are on other services - and I come back to T-Mobile.

I commute the northeast corridor from NJ into Manhattan - and there are perhaps 2 or 3 spots that I ever run into where I don't have a signal. Customer service is excellent - and it's there, and responsive, 24 x 7. Not critical, but sometimes that works better with my schedule. Except...I rarely need to both calling customer service ("customer care" on TMo). I've found that the folks who answer the initial call (level 1 support I guess) are generally nice, and pretty good - but if I need something technical resolved, asking explicitly for support for the MDA or Blackberry gets you to a far more deeply trained person - and the support is generally excellent.

I wish TMo came out with newer subsidized phones more frequently, but that's not a killer for me. I can generally wait for new devices - and for the most part, I've wound up buying unlocked phones anyway, separately from TMo (part of the beauty of GSM).

Finally - price: In general, I've found the pricing to be the best for what I need. That, on top of great customer service and a signal that's fine 99% of the time where I need it, makes it easy for me to stay with TMo. The *only* issue I have is that I'd like speeds more like EVDO if it were possible - that would make the whole thing a sweeter experience. But even without, I'm having a blast with my Curve on T-Mobile, and see no reason to consider another carrier.

The website says it includes both, unlimited night and weekends and unlimited myfaves minutes...

Thanks for all the information though, helped a lot...

...probably going to be switching to T-Mo

Yep. The closest official coverage is North Augusta, SC. Right on the GA/SC border. Everyone always asks me about my phone number and why it's not local. But I still get great coverage, most of the time roaming on AT&T, but no roaming charges, so it's cool.
From what I've heard though, they are coming here soon. Gonna start by selling prepaid phones through Target, then actually open some stores and have official coverage.

TMo provides roaming coverage around Charlotte. Check their map and plug in your zip code:
    http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/

...I browsed around the 28201 vicinity and surrounding areas - appears to be all "T-Mobile Roaming" there. But if the roaming coverage is good, that shouldn't be an issue - no roaming charges, and I haven't been aware of any roaming issues at all in the last several years.

The Blackberry may just switch to roaming on AT&T network if the coverage is greater.

and Verizon is showing basically solid service...which I know is not accurate because my grandparents have them and have a lot of trouble with service...

Ah... maybe I mixed this up with unlimited T-Mobile to T-Mobile...maybe that's the feature that's mutually exclusive with My Faves...

actually, at&t shows the best coverage, over Verizon and T-Mo...

...I may just have to stick with at&t just for that alone
Cingular is now the new at&t
