How to use GPS on 8310
I just got my 8310. I know it has GPS but i dont anything about it. I connected yseterday while driving. How do i use it? How do i load maps on it? I know with other PDA's you can download the map software? Is this how the 8310 works?
Really confused. Any help will be appreciated. I am on Rogers plan without a Data Plan. Do i need a Dataplan to make the GPS work?
You don't need a data plan to use the GPS, but you will need data to use Blackberry Maps, or Google Maps.
There is something called TrekBuddy that might be of interest to you though.
Check this thread: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ight=trekbuddy
yes you do need a dataplan to use most of the free apps out there as of now there is not reallly any easy to use apps that let you save maps to your memory card.
Check out my thread and you will be able to use gps offline with no data charges http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ad.php?t=72572
Yes there is : TrekBuddy. I use it and its awesome and uses full gps not cell towers.

Also if you want to use Google maps, what I did while it was installed was simply going to the GPS option and pressing refresh and then loaded up up google maps... works like a charm!
There are two GPS Apps that I can say are indeed very good, both have Voice Enable Directions:
First up is MapQuest Nav: They currently have Seven Day Free Trail, if you like it you can purchase it for as little as $49 a year. https://mapquestdtc.telmap.com/
Second is Copilot: I found this one here at Pinstack, and this little baby has a Six (6), yes six month Free Trail, don't know how much after - but within six months it worth an OTA download: http://www.alk.com/blackberry/
I use amAzeGPS (http://www.amazegps.com). Free program with voice direction. It has worked fine for me so far.
[Edit: It will require a data plan, however, as it re-downloads the maps each use (as I understand most of the GPS programs do).]
