How to do quick keyboard lock?

My old 8100 I was able to lock my keyboard by pressing and holding the * key. But now with my new 8310 Curve, I can't do that, and the instructions don't say anything about locking the keyboard.

Is there a quick key that someone knows of?

If you have dialing from the home screen turned off, hitting the letter K will lock it.

If you have it turned on, then you can setup one of the smart keys as a keypad lock. I used to use that method before switching to a holster with a magnet in it.

I like to be able to dial from my home screen, and I can't figure out how to assign a key for the key lock. All I can assign is a speed dial.

You use one of the two soft keys (the keys on the side of the phone). You go to options->keyboard/screen and scroll down to the soft keys and reassign one of them to "keyboard lock".

Alt + Return is another option to lock.

Press & hold the "Mute Key" and it will put the phone in standby mode (locking the keys) until the Mute is Tapped again...
