sorry for the lame question, but...

what is the reason behind the freeing the memory?
does the large amount of the memory will help with overall performance of the phone, or the only reason is to have more space for future applications?

Re: How much free memory do you have on your phone?

Anybody know why my wife's BB has more free memory than mine? She's got around 26mb and I've got around 23mb. Neither one of us has media on the phone, no 3rd party applications...

The reason I'm puzzled is because I've actually gone and deleted the sample video/pictures off the OS of mine thinking that it would give me more free space. But the wife's phone still have more memory.

Bb's are known to wipe out the call logs and sms/mms/emails if it starts to run out of memory. Deleting unused applications, themes, wallpapers and ringtones helps ensure that doesn't happen. Also, when your bb doesn't have enough memory, it tends to lag. I hope this answers your question.

~what is the easiest way to manage your memory? Is there some easy way to see the size of everything on your phone? Right now I have bb maps, google maps, a poker game and an ESPN shorcut icon on the desktop and have only 6 mb left. Should I be thinking about deleting stuff and does my remaining memory sound right for as many applications I've added?

I'm away from my pc at the moment or I would post some links for you. Just search the forum, there are many threads that give directions for feeing up memory. I recommend that when you modify your os, don't actually delete files. Just move them to a folder for unused BB files in case you need to add them back. Make 1 change at a time and see how your BB acts after. I deleted the preloaded ringtones but then I couldn't change certain things in my profiles. After adding them back everything worked normally. Every model and pa has little quirks I think so make changes slowly. Do you have a memory card? ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
