run the desktop software that came with your phone. Run the "synchronize" program and sync it with your outlook address book.

You can just create a backup.

Use the desktop manager, click on the backup/restore button and it will give you options.

That would be a lot easier if you don't use outlook. Although Outlook is also good way to make sure you have all your contacts.

You won't be able to read the contacts from the back up file with any program other than the desktop manager. And that will only see it when you want to restore it.

If you want to be able to see and edit them, then Outlook would be you best bet.

You need to configure your BB to sync with Outlook.

In Desktop Manager there should be a sync icon. Configure that first. Careful though before you sync make sure its not erasing all your contacts off your BB.

If your not familiar with Outlook I would read up on it before syncing. First time I played with it it erased all my contacts off my BB.

    Re: How 2 Save Phonebook

First of all which Outlook do you have?

    Anyways...

Open up your Desktop Manager, then open up Synchronize.
Then there should be two tabs Synchronize and Configuration.
    Click the Configuration Tab
    Then the Configure Synch...button
It should list the things it can sync...Address book, Calendar, etc.
On the right it should have a choose button. Click that and choose what you want your BB to sync with. Outlook should be among the choices.
Down on the lower right should be configure pull down menu.
Click that and go to advanced settings.
Make sure that Confirmation boxes are checked.

Then you should be able to sync.

Just make sure you don't delete everything. I'm not a pro with outlook. Just be careful you don't delete everything. Just familiarize yourself with it and you should be fine.

You can also do a Bluetooth transfer of you address book to your computer.
    1) Create a BT pairing between your computer and your Blackberry.
    2) Hit the Blackberry button.
    3) Select "Transfer Address Book".
    4) It will send a backup file containing your phone book to your computer. You can either send this backup file back to your Blackberry when done, or import it into your contact management program of choice.
