Hey guys, lemme put it all out there. So from day one i had a pearl, i went through about 4 of em with rogers, returning them etc.. and finally i got a curve, 8300, not from rogers tho but from my cousin, without the box cd manual etc.. Anyways, I gave my pearl to my dad and every things been goin good. Iv noticed that i cant install apps on my curve for some reason, the desktop manager says that i dont have the proper device software installed..? Anyways my friend came over with his new 8310, his comp is broken and he wanted me to install some apps on it.. Well what do u know i download the 8310 device manager and it didnt work. Im not too sure if it is just my computer or what. Im not too sure what to do cause i have the only pc in my house, every other computers are macs, im not too sure if you can also install the desktop manager on a mac i havent tried yet, but im really confused and am not too sure what to do.. Should i download the 8300 desktop manager from the blackberry website? I am going down to rogers today to get the new 15$ BB messenger n Email plan seeing as my dad wants it now, and im worried i wont be able to install any apps! Someone please help me i would appreciate it.. Thanks in advance.
Go to Options in the Desktop manager and make sure it can see your device. If that doesn't work, try downloading the latest version of the DM from RIM, or, you can try their product for the Mac. I can't remember what it's called, but I'm sure someone will reply shortly with the name.
uhmm ya it recognizes it, i can add music onto it and all that but applications just doesnt seem to work!
Sounds like you need to DL and install the same DEVICE OPERATING SYSTEM that is on your handheld onto your PC. That should fix your problem.
Post back if you need help
To be able to install anything on your device you need the
The OS (operating System) for your particular device.
With those both installed on your PC you should be able to use the application loader.
There is Pocketmac for BB's but it's not very good. It's fairly limited for what you can do with it.
yeaa i definetly have the old OS for my curve my cousin has had it for a year and a half im scared to install the new one will everything get deleted?
Depends on what you mean by everything (and what new OS you are considering).
