    Help with OS upgrade plz...

Okay.. So I am back from school trying to help my sister update her OS. She couldn't play video MMS' and I came searching here and found out that you need to upgrade the OS.

I tried following the instructions from the stickie but when it got to the part to delete the vendor file there was no Apps folder or anything.. Could not find vendor.whatever. Basically it wasn't finding the new OS. Also I just downloaded the newest version cause thats all that I could find the link for..

I am a Pearl user but I am not to familiar with her phone. Basically I want to install an OS that will let her see vid MMS. But I would also like the most stable one (I won't be around to fix it soon and she wont be able to figure it out)

Normally I would just fiddle around with the Stickes/FAQs and mess around till I got it right, but right now I am on her computer and don't really have the time (to use it) or the freedom to figure it out on my own. If somone could help me out a little please.

    Thank you in advanced

When you downloaded the operating system did you run and install it to the pc? Any official OS should be just fine so no worry there. Once the OS is installed go to c/program files/common files/research in motion/app loader and delete the vender.xml. Once that's done just start desktop manager and it should notice the update. Before you start the update make sure to back up her device.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Scruff, you have to open-run-install the os upgrade on the pc, then delete the vendor file. Hook BB up via usb, then click on Desktop Manager. When it opens it'll ask if you want to install upgrade.
Make sure to back up first. Go back and transfer address book, etc., after new os is
    installed

    Smile Try This?

    Control Panel
    Add/Remove programs
Find old OS for device, delete it leave Desktop manager. Leave new OS that you just downloaded. Also be sure that you installed new OS, not just downloaded it. You'll see it in ypur program list if you did.
Good luck. It's worth the work.

Make sure there are no other OS installed on the pc. If there are uninstall them. You can also try going into c/program files/comman files/ research in motion/app loader and click the loader file to see if it will pick it up that way.
