Without having the bb internet service you really handcuff yourself to only using your browser and a lot of your features like the messengers when you are at a wifi hotspot. Do yourself a favor, get the bis, totally worth it~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Having a pearl 8100c I would not know anything about wifi. But if you use your pc you can download themes, save them and install them using DM. Do a search on how to download themes here on PinStack. Unsure but you might be able to download themes (OTA) over the air using your wifi.

    Hi

A lot of 3rd party applications will not work over wifi. For instant Messaging have a look at Jivetalk, this works over wifi and hosts all I'm clients.

To get themes on your BB look at this link.

    Hotbanana,

You can also used Opera mini browswer via wi-fi - you can download it via wi-fi also. It took me several tries - don't know why - but I finally got it and I'm able to use it as well as the BB browser.

Having a data plan will make BB life a LOT better for you than trying to figure out what few things will work via wi-fi and how to get them to function. Good move getting the BIS - have fun.
