    Happy painting your 83xx

I noticed a few have painted their BB with spray paint which is ok if thats your thing. I have painted a few phones in my day and would like to share a little of my experience on the subject. I can tell you if you desire a superior coating and glossy shine like colorware go to the industial paint store ask for a "oil-base Alkyd resin coating" which is just a fancy name for industial enamel paint you will also need a "Urethane converter" to mix with the paint. This "combo" will produce a finish that is not only tough but highly glossy and will resist the oils, salt and acids that are in your skin from day to day handling also this coating chemically bonds with the ABS phone body provided it has been sanded and cleaned properly so it won't peel or flake. Follow the mix ratio on the cans and it will turn out great. Oh and you will need an air brush system to apply this. the end cost will be under thirty dollars and is dry and can be used within 8 hours. Happy painting.

Where exactly can you find paint AND an airbrush system for under $30? In order to use an airbrush, that requires an air compressor. Also, most people aren't that comfortable mixing paint themselves. I've painted guitars before, using aerosol cans, and it's durable enough to last a good couple years. Also, what type of airbrush would you recommend for this? Gravity?

Sorry if this post more than once I tried to reply with my BB but it did not go through.
Sorry to mislead anyone about the price the $30.00 dollars is for paint only. The urethane converter is super easy to mix with the paint. I use a gravity feed airbrush for consistency propelled by compressed nitrogen for zero moisture. All this is just a suggestion to help someone get a superior finish if they desire.

Home Depot has a good urethane sealant...I forgot the name. Sorry! I used it for painting bird-houses in Texas. It was UV resistant...that means it will not fade your paint job if you leave it in the SUN. p.s.-Do not put on too many layers, or your will have a purple BB!
