    Group ringtones on 8300?

So I had this problem with the Pearl and everyone said it was only on the 8700 that you could do it. I want to put people in a group and assign them a specific ringtone. Ive found a way to make groups and categories but no way to assign specific ringtones to them. I had to go through every single name and its like 5 steps each. That was a bit infuriating. I was hoping the 8300 had the same system as the 8700.

Anyone find a simple way to do this?

The problem when you created the categories is you then have to filter it to see the specific categories. Then the categories show up in your contact list in addition to all the other names. Its a bit redundant.

Try the following. It looks like from your description, you can cut out some steps:

Set custom notification for calls or messages from a specific contact
    1. In the profile list, click Advanced.
    2. Press the Menu key.
    3. Click New Exception.
    4. In the Exception field, type a name for the profile exception.
    5. In the From field, press the Menu key.
    6. Click Add Name.
    7. Click a contact.
    8. To add another contact, repeat steps 5 through 7.
    9. Set the Use Profile field to the notification profile on which the exception should be based.
    10. To set a ring tone, select the Custom Phone Tune check box. Set a ring tone.
    11. Press the Menu key.
    12. Click Save.

It's tedious, but it's the only way.

That is GOLDEN... I swear I pick up at least 1 thing daily from these boards... Thanks for that quick tutorial... worked perfectly for me to add the Boston Legal show intro music to a group of buddies from Beantown...

Now I'll know when one of those jokers is calling without even looking down
