    Gmail sync

Does anyone know if there's a way to sync email with Gmail? For example I receive emails on my BB which I reply to or delete but when I log on to Gmail from the computer I have to go through those emails and archive them again. Is there a way to keep them both in sync?

The only thing is to go into your BBs Email settings and select to have it delete on both handset and mailbox or get the Gmail app for BB which runs the battery down and is really pointless with push email.

I heard somewhere that the BIS is going to be upgrading soon to 2.6 and that Gmail will have almost perfect integration with it. Can someone substantiate that plz.

Best you can do is configure Gmail account for imap. Instructions for how to do that are all over the sites.

What will that do that the regular BIS settings do not?

    Thx

Here's how imap with gmail works (and I use this btw)...

If let's say I open my account on the computer to take a look at while I'm using my bb...

Any new email that I open, will get marked as read...

If I delete on handheld, it stays there...

If I delete on mailbox and handheld, it will label that email as "imap/trash" and it will disappear from your inbox on the comp. You'll be able to see it from the all mail section...

Setting imap up for gmail is pretty easy but just slightly cumbersome...

First of all, log into your gmail account on a comp and enable imap from the "settings" section...

And then right in there is an option to see instructions on how to set up your client... Click on that, and then select blackberry and it'll walk you through the process...

    Hope all that made sense...

    Thx for the instructions.

So if I read an email on my BB then it will show as read on my PC if I go to view it on there? ...and vice versa?

If I delete an email from my BB then it will also put the entire email in my Gmail Trash? It was a little difficult to understand some of your wording.

Lol, my bad... Guess I should compose better...

If you open a mail on bb, it will show as read on gmail
If you delete the mail from bb, it will send it to "imap/trash" which is a label it will create...

Not sure if the reverse works... Technically it should, but I've never tried it... Always check on bb...
Ill see today and let you know right here in a couple of hours...

Ok I did everything Gmail said for instructions to set up IMAP on the BB and now my phone doesn't receive new emails to that account. I sent my service books twice and restarted my phone.

What should I do to get it to work? Thx

It has never taken that long before, but I will wait.

Also is this still "Push Email" or is it another form because I sent from the account to another one of my accounts and it took about 3 minutes before receiving when before it took seconds?

How is the battery life on the IMAP instead of regular BIS setup?

Its still push email... Mine comes in in seconds as it always did...

No change in battery life, and I'm heavy on pinstacking and emailing... So its all good...

It's still not working. When I look at the Advanced Settings it tells me that it is set to:

    Email server: imap.gmail.com
    Email server type: POP3
    Port: 995
    Timeout:120 seconds
    SSL: Yes

Gmail's instructions say it needs to be set to port 993, but I cannot edit the port for that. Also it says the account type is POP3 when it is supposed to be IMAP.

    What must I do?
