    Gmail and email questions

For those that have gmail accounts, do you prefer to use the gmail app or just have it forwarded to your bb? Any particular reasons?

Also, when I send e-mail out from my gmail it sends me a copy to my bb, how do you turn that off? I scanned through the options and I don't think I saw anything there for it.

I prefer to just forward to my BB.

To stop the copy to your bb do this:
go to your BB account setup and configure a new filter. For the conditions, set up a 'From:' condition and put in your email address (ie 'From': your.email.here@gmail.com). and choose not to forward to handheld.

I have it forwarded to my BB as well, but it may just be because i am too lazy to try it the other way.

    Re: Gmail and email questions

another gmail related question.... i read a knowledge base article on rims site for blackberry that said gmail reconciliation takes from 90 minutes to 6 hours.

i waited over night and nothing... the message still showed as new in my inbox in gmail. wireless reconcile is on, and i opened the msg on my berry... what else do i have to do to get it to show as opened in gmail?

    thanks!

Silly question for sure, but what's reconciliation? From the above post it sounds like it's when you read the forwarded email on your BB, then it'll show as read when you log into your gmail accoung on your PC?

    Re: Gmail and email questions

almost entirely correct... the forwarding part is where you go a bit astray.

reconciliation specifically does not work when emails are forwarded from gmail... only if they are retrieved via POP. i have POP enabled and my gmail is my only email addy on my BIS. thats why it should work... but it just wont

    Re: Gmail and email questions

that is exactly why i forward my gmail as pop, instead of using the gmail client. seems like they take forever to show up in the client.

huh? the client as in the gmail program made for bb? or the client as in.....?

i tried forwarding my gmails to a tmo.blackberry.net address for a while, and they arrived just as fast as when i have my gmail address configured in the BIS.

sorry. by 'client', yes, i mean the gmail client that you download from google. it looks slick, but never seems to update.

    Re: Gmail and email questions

Forwarded to my BB for obvious reasons of push instant email, then have GMAIL app if I need to see my entire Inbox. Gmail really is the way to go regarding email. Been noticing a lot of spam in my inbox though which isn't normal for GMAIL.

    Re: Gmail and email questions

the gmail app is nice because it allows you to mark an item as read, unread, add star, etc. i primarily use the berry to tend to urgent matters during the day, but when i get back to a computer, ill go back to those that i starred, or left unread, and pay more attention to then. since the reconciliation feature is suck minus, i have to use the gmail app to declare an item opened...
