Question Duplicate Appointments after Syncing with Outlook

Just when I thought everything was going soooo smoothly, I hit a stumbling block. Each time I sync my Blackberry 8330 with my Outlook 2003 (using the Blackberry Desktop Manager software), it duplicates all of my calendar entries. So instead of my 300 or so entries, I get 600!

    Any ideas, folks?

    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks in advance,
You need to check your sync configuration in the Desktop Manager. What version of DM do you have? I'm using 4.6 right now (the link for which is in my blog) and I know you can tell the DM to do 3 different types of syncs: 2-way, 1-way to the device and 1-way to the PC.

You can also use the DM to clear the calendar on your device to start from scratch, but check the sync configuration. I think this is where your problems lies.

    Hope this helps!

    Roger

Yup exactly what rogro stated. I had the same thing in mine this week for my future appts. I checked the advanced sync settings made sure its 2 way, and for all conflicts, i stated that outlooks wins.
My problem was i was syncing my wifes phone also to outlook and a few things were repeated. But the conflict resolution tabs can solve a ton of problems.

OK, I checked and everything is set the way you describe. But when I sync, it tells me 300+ appts will be added (all of which are duplicates). Obviously, I can tell it not to do that...but then, if I add an appt. somewhere it doesn't sync that new one either. Any other ideas?

I would recommend starting from scratch, with your phone of course. then prompt the sync settings in the advance settings to let outlook win if theres a conflict. Also, is there any other calander youre syncing with?

Interesting question, Charlie. It does say that I have 3 calendars for some reason. One is the one I want to sync with (and that is producing the duplicate appts) and the other 2 are from my 2 extra AOL accounts, which to my knowledge have no calendar associated with them. I do have the correct one chosen as my default, but I see no way to delete the other two AOL accounts (I still want to receive my mail from those accounts).

When you say "start over" what exactly do you mean? If you mean wiping all of the appointments using the desktop manager, then I have done that (twice, actually). It works the first time and then the next time I try to sync, it wants to duplicate everything again.

I bet the problem is with your aol accounts. Is your sync settings in DM include your aol accounts? If not, then how does your phone gets your updates with aol?
Look under the calendar sync options and see what all is syncing with your phone.

OK, just checked. AOL is not present in DM...just my Outlook account.

Can you think of anything else? (She says...hope in her heart...!)

If you are syncing with Outlook (so you have the data you want saved) and want a clean start try this....

    Connect to Desktop Manager
    Start Back up / Restore
    Click Advanced
Scroll Down to Calendar and Clear the data base

Then you can re-sync and see if the duplicates appear again....

Thanks, Gary. Even though I'd actually done this previously...this time it appears to have worked!

    :-)

Thanks to all for your help.
