It's not just you, I have the same thing. That and I get an odd text screen while gMaps is loading.

You think maybe they pulled it? The link is still up at google but it won't download.
I was able to download yesterday (Friday 5/2), also received the same error message twice. The third time it downloaded.
It shows my location within 3 meters, so it says.

My older version of Google Maps was working fine on 4.5 but when I downloaded 2.2 it stopped connecting to GPS. I am using Wayfinder which is working fine with my OS 4.5. There's obviously an issue with Google Maps.

I just downloaded it about 2 days ago. I have it as the compass icon. Maybe you could download it again and see if that helps... Its fine here.

    Hey Everybody,

I figured it out! The BB browser is not sending the correct info to Google, or Google is not interpreting it correctly, so what happens is it's downloading the version for BlackBerrys with OS 4.0 which doesn't handle internal GPS.

Here's a temporary fix until Google or RIM fix the issue...

Using your BlackBerry browser, download Google Maps 2.1.0 for BlackBerry devices with OS 4.2 or higher from this link: http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v2.1....=42&ver=v2.1.0

Now you'll have your GPS again (and the icon too)

I hope that helps some of you out there!

Great, thanks! That command window icon looked terrible on my home screen, and my GPS didn't work. Now everything is working fine.

Well hey, looks like I get to return the favor. Here's a write up I made today on how to get BBmaps working on OS 4.5, even with ATT.

Thanks for the fix MrCmonster. I was just about to go back to 4.2 because of Google Maps breaking. Good find!

Ha! That's great, I was just looking at that "wirelessly push BBmaps to Blackberry users" on my BB at work Monday afternoon, but I wasn't near a computer to try it out. I'd still like to get the newer BBmaps working, but at least this is something for now! Thanks!!
