Does anyone have a hack to unlock the camera if IT Admin locks it out?

For some reason, IT have decided that we should not have the camera on our BBs. Does anyone know a tool/method to unlock the device?

It's all about the privacy rights of others. And yet they have no issue with monitoring your e-mails, browser history, etc!

If you are connected to BES, There is no way unless they allow it in the policy that is set for your device or set you up under a different policy.

Not to mention if by some way you were able to obtain a hack (which unless you work at RIM and work in the BES area, is going to be impossible) and IT found out, they'd probably boot you right out the door.

No luck on that one. BES IT Policy is the law of the land.

Ha ha love it, if IT found out. Not sure where you work tough guy but IT do not boot people out the door at mine. Thanks for your helpful comments though.

Well - if you didn't care whether or not you had BES connectivity anymore, couldn't you do a wipe? I know the OP is probably looking to maintain BES connection, but wiping the HH should reset it to factory defaults and unlock the camera. Just remember, OP, that if you do this, you would need to contact your BB admin to get it reactivated on BES.

"they'd" was referring to the company. They (IT) would probably contact them (Corporate) who would contact them (security/hr) to escort you out of it (the building). If you want to try it though, go ahead. They (IT and the company) obviously are locking down cameras for a specific reason.

Again, great stuff. Very dramatic. Do you practice that? What you are saying though is that basically you don't know if there is a hack for this. I do however, appreciate you giving me such insight into the governance model at my firm.

Well, there is a reason for your company locking down the Camera. Ask your IT dept or just deal with it. The majority of the people on here have strict IT policies and any tampering with it is reason for termination.

    They have answered your question.

Thanks Mr. dog. All good stuff. But please explain why you feel the need to place a response to a question when you are not either answering the question or contributing to the answer?

Not sure why the attitude. You asked a question it was answered, and people also offered experience on what MAY happen if you decide to continue on your quest. You came here asking for help. Take it in the spirit it was offered. You did not find the answer you wanted. Either accept it, or pursue it on your own.

spkack, thanks for that. I am just thinking that the hardware is on the BB therefore there must some sw that, when installed locally, can enable that hardware. Thoughts?

sprung, I have no problem with the good people who answered my request. The problem I have is with the people not addressing the issue and giving me their moral stance.
