Noob - the copper circle does have a small bit of wear and tear... did ... BlackBerry Curve forum
Noob - the copper circle does have a small bit of wear and tear... did try cleaning that and the area underneath it (board area)... it doesn't look like theirs anything on the board wrong to be causing this.... Any further ideas?!...
yea, the 3 trackballs *mine including 2 others* did all look the same...
Berryaddict- thanks for the info... tried all the above... still no luck!
i can't believe the thing turned on .. was it submerged in water? i did the same thing to my curve awhile back and it took almost 2 full weeks to completely dry out.
good luck, hope the new trackball works
yea it fell under water for all of a couple seconds! Was sooooo pissed!!!!
Phones only like 6 months old and can't afford a new one...
I'm just REALLY annoyed about the trackball issue!!!
I would let it rest overnight and see what happens tomorrow. There may be condensation still in the phone.
Thanks everyone for the advise... Any new ideas are appreciated.
I had also read around that this copper piece beneath the trackball, if it doesn't have its curvature to it, it can cause issues. Mine seems to be fine as far as physical appearance, but gonna meet up with my tech friend again tomorrow and see what we can come up with.
That copper piece with a little wear can still function but I've seen them completely worn out from massive usage. I see this problem more frequently on the Pearl than I have on the Curve. I have a 8310 currently that I only use as a media player in my car and when I first started talking to you about it I took the trackball out and noticed the copper circle in mine was worn on the bottom of the circle but still works fine.
Bag it in rice for a day or so.
Noob - thanks for the info on the copper piece, with that in mind,
mine should still be fine.
Been lettin it all sit apart and dry out overnight... still nothing.
After several attempts to fix the trackball issue, I've decided to sell this phone. Will probably make a great parts phone as far as its shell, extra battery, buttons or screen. It's only 5 months old and in great condition.
>>> EDIT - - - found a local store to buy the phone off me for parts.

The brass center ring has nothing to do with scrolling up or down. You need to look at where the rollers connect. they are the four black square chips that surrond the brass push button. Make sure there is no currosion on them or touching the solders connecting it.
Looking for Wallpapers or Icons for making themes? I can help!

If you are going to take the time to respond... take the time to actually understand that to which you are responding.
yes, I've checked out these lil' rollers too... they seem to be fine and have been cleaned.
I think its probably a motherboard issue. Possibly something became fried internally after it sank in water.
Still unable to fix...

Finally got my new trackball - still didn't fix the issue.
Still selling as a parts phone.
~via smartphone mobile.pinstack.com~
Dropped the price of the phone in the BUY, SELL, TRADE area to $75
...phone probably only good for spare parts such as buttons, screen or pannels.
Will be selling this to a local store by this weekend if no bites here,
as I need the money for it ASAP.
