delays can be cause by different things. Is this BIS mail or BES, Yahoo, gmail or other personal mail?
There is a 5 to 10 min delay on emails that I am supposed to recieve with my BB. Any reason why this may be? Is there anyway to fix this problem?
I am getting delays on two separate email accounts. Both are set up through BIS. One pulls email from my account that is hosted through the gmail app. It is a corporate account that we use the gmail app for.
The other account is another business account that is hosted by aplus.net. BIS pulls the emails through that account as well.
Does that help? Anything I can do to troubleshoot?
~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I also have a 7 to 10 minute delay through BIS. Is this normal?
it is normal, i do believe the time frame for emails can be as little as instantly to i think two hours. but i know sometimes on my yahoo account it takes a couple of minutes and i know on my work email on my company bes it gets their before it reaches my desktop
is there a way to ensure that there is a quicker delivery? ie any settings to change on the phone or in BIS?
Nope. The polling interval in BIS is fixed and isn't user configurable. You could always forward email (rather than poll) to firstname.lastname@example.org, but you'd lose reconciliation of one-way deletions. But the forwarding will be pushed in near real-time (very fast).
the quickest method most companies use is BES with one of the supported corporate messaging systems (Micorosoft Exchange Server, IBM Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise). Sorry.
You could try with a standard Yahoo mail or standard Gmail account (not a hosted domain) and see if the delivery speed is any quicker. These two are supposed to be the fasted with BIS.
Personally, if you don't want to go the BES route, the best solution I've seen is to forward from email@example.com (using filter) to firstname.lastname@example.org, and just forgo any reconciliation. That gives you near BES-like speed with push emails. (remember to set the "reply to" address in BIS to be your Gmail email address, then set up a filter so that copies of your sent messages aren't pushed to your device. You'll see what I mean about the sent messages if you attempt this solution yourself).
As always, feel free to drop RIM a line at email@example.com and let them know how you feel.
Domino 6.5.6FP1 | BES 4.1.4
Both Gmail and Yahoo are push pop for the bis. I have 2 gmail accounts on my bis (at&t) and the emails comes instantly
Thanks for the info Aroc...will try your suggestions
I suggest you try resending the service books.
Good luck! Welcome to Pinstack brikuda!
A fool always finds a greater fool to admire him. Fools admire, but men of sense approve.
I use a Yahoo email (as well as my firstname.lastname@example.org) account with BIS. I get Yahoo mail instantly.
Welcome to PinStack brikuda...sometimes the emails can be instant and sometimes a slight delay.
I've heard AOL accounts are delayed by 10 minutes or more. My Yahoo accounts are instant.
My BIS (yahoo & gmail) emails have been coming in instantly...But, I noticed that sometimes my BES emails stop coming in for a while, and then, i'll get a clutter of corp emails at once. If I happen to notice emails not coming in, I can do a wireless off/on, and they will come in.
Not sure if this is a BES admin issue...Any feedback?
what are service books and how do you resend them?
log into your BIS account via pc and one of the options on the lefthand side of the screen will be "send service books"...
