I've had exactly the same problem (noted in the thread 'My First Week with the Curve'). I get decent signal strength where I live, but the Curve seems particularly sensitve and swaps from GPRS to GSM on a whim, meaning I get zero signal strength despite the bars showing full.

No call, no SMS and no emails from a full signal strength? I swapped the SIM card back into my old 8707v and it was fine. Put it back into the Curve and it was still telling me I could only get GSM.

Not happy, but at least I know this is a general issue rather than one with Vodafone UK.
