It just worked... very briefly. After connecting, I got the first few KB from a webpage, then it just stopped. I had to disconnect it manually after a couple minutes.

Bummer deal. Please keep posting if you're able to get it to work. Maybe they read this thread.

I guess it's what happens when you brag about exploiting the system and ripping the company off to a company rep and he flags your account for investigation.

Or it could be your settings

Here are screen shoots of my settings:

    PPP Menu

The password is CINGULAR1 (all caps)
Your account name could be different. There are 2 different ones that you could use. To make shore you have typed in the right one for you and to check on the other settings in this menu go to Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP on your BlackBerry and the settings in the TCP menu should reflect that of your PPP Network settings on your Mac.

    PPP Options

    Proxies Menu

The DNS server addresses are those of OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com/)

    Bluetooth Modem Menu

The modem script is the one found at http://perishablepress.com/press/200...modem-for-mac/

Re: Curve as modem for Mac?

Ok, now its not working for me. From that perishablepress.com link above I found this:

For Cingular/At&T subscribers: According to the customer service department, unless your plan specifically supports tethering, tethered connections will only work until the system catches on and blacklists your device (only as a tethered modem). Also, the representative assured me that pre-blacklist connections would not be billed.
The reason why it is not working (unless you have a tethered package) is that you have been black listed. I am thinking about just getting the tethering package because I am going off to collage and I can use it to connect my school laptop to the internet. The only problem is that the tethering package does not come with text messages I think. Do any of you know if it does come with text messages or if there is another plan with tethering and has text messages? This is all I can find on AT&T's website:

    BlackBerry® Tethered ($59.99)
    BlackBerry® Enterprise Unlimited Plus Tethering.
It really does not even say what Enterprise Unlimited comes with...

He didn't flag my account because I spoke with him in mid-February. Unless, that is, it takes a few months to blaclist someone.

Luckily I'm able to tether once again.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ scratch that. Again was only successful in the first couple hundred kb's.
Perhaps I am blacklisted. Time shall tell.

Re: Curve as modem for Mac?

    dcMobile,

I do pay for the teathering plan from AT&T and am having a similiar issue to you. I get
    "LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests"
and it never connects. I just traded in my Blackberry 8800 for the Curve. I got the 8800 working with my MacBook Pro (intel) just fine. I'm trying to use the same setup for the curve and it is not working. I tried the post above (userlan667) exactly with the updated 8300 modem script and i always get the same error above.

Is my phone prompting my laptop for a password? My PocketMac software that came with the phone won't connect until I give it my phones passcode. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    BA
