We are in a major snow/ice storm right now, wonder if the ATT stores will even be open in the morning. Even if we order online, our shipment will be delayed due to the weather.

I don't want to switch carriers either. So, I'll be in the same boat. Also, no money right now due to Xmas. Looks like January for my new 8900. I'll be sure to read all your reviews while drooling.

Hi, my name is Archer, and I'm cross addicted... yes I am.
BlackBerry's and ThinkPads just to name my two favorite brands.
    Cheers

I have 2 Thinkpads and 3 BB's. Is this a new disease we have stubled on?

Frankly I believe that waiting for T-Mobile to get the 8900 will be a significant advantage. While waiting is no fun, I bet they get a much better version of the OS than the first batch going out to AT&T. In fact as I write this & remind myself as well, I've decided to _not_ buy one from AT&T until I read other peoples reviews. Even then I'm going to wait and hold off at least until Feb. I am in no mood to get a defective 8900 and have to go through what I just did in an effort to get a proper Bold. The wait (for me) will be well worth it. Especially if I avoid being RIMs beta tester for a phone that should be ready out of the box.

Yes but in typical fashion it's too late for me. I envy a "normal person" like you. Two ThinkPads is quite normal from my point of view.

I on the other hand have more than I care to reveal. A veritable ThinkPad museum which is largely focused on the T-Series, and X-Series. Then most recently just for fun an IdeaPad S10 Netbook. My current work machine is a 15" T60p with the wonderful 1600x1200 display with IPS / Flexview technology. Equipped with two hard drives and a quad boot four OS system it's a dream.

    Cheers

    Hey Archer,
Did you notice if the Bold was available at 12:20am?

I'll be checking the AT&T site in less than a couple hours.

I've yet to have another BlackBerry that was as good as my 8310. That Curve captured my attention for an entire year. I would very much like to repeat that experience, and I believe the phone to do it is the 8900.

That's just one more reason I will wait until they have been out for awhile. I want to read others reviews & allow RIM time to make any corrections that may be needed after the initial release. If there is one thing I've learned, that is the fact that within days of getting a new model I've forgotten all about how long I have to wait. Then the focus shifts to living with the new phone. Therefore by waiting until the initial demand is filled & RIM corrects the few issues they may have, the reward is well worth the wait. There is nothing more satisfying that getting a new BlackBerry that one can simply use & enjoy right out of the box.

I've had my brand new 8310 for two weeks now and it has been exactly like you described above, Archer......I've simply used and enjoyed it right out of the box! Nary an issue. That's as it should be.....
