Curve 8310 only charging while turned off?

I recently got a Curve 8310, and I love it to death. The funny thing is though, it only charges (as far as I can tell) when it's turned off. Any idea why it'd do that?

Notes: It's a AT&T refurb, wall charger works when the phone is turned off, and charging via USB works while the phone is turned off.

What theme are you using? Some 3rd party themes can make it hard to tell when phone is charging!

    Elemental - Zen.

Let me see what happens when I switch it back to the default AT&T one and it uses up enough power to require charging again. Be back in a bit heh.

Elemental Zen has only the smallest lightning bolt next to your battery strength. It can be hard to see depending on your background image. The charging bolt is black.

    Ah-hah! That's it!

I'd assumed that a yellow bolt meant charging and a black one meant it wasn't.

I was also somewhat mislead by the LED lighting up when it's being charged while turned off, but not being lit up when it's being charged while turned on.

    Thanks for the help!
