    Question Curve 8310 GPS Service

    Greetings all,
For the GPS you need to pay using TeleNav GPS Navigator? There are any way to use the GPS for free? Using BBMaps or some? I'm a Pearl owner, thinking about the change. ATT does not have the 8120

    THX!

The GPS works for free in both Google Maps and in BB Maps.

But you need a BB dataplan and you do not get voice command, turn by turn and auto reroute with either BBMaps or GoogleMaps.

GPS is always free. Paid for by your US tax dollars. It is the Map application that makes it work and some of those cost $$$.

My peon (sp?) stacker status does not allow me to post urls, but Hayden intially posted this, so I guess it's kosher...

Google "Nav4All". The setup is not the slickest I've seen, but the app works brilliantly and gives audible turn-by-turn directions for free (until 1-1-2010, per website) and has several other very useful tools. My favorite is a function that allows you to select one of your address book contacts and begin navigation from your location to their address. To spice things up, choose "English(UK) Fun Female" [a/k/a Brittish Porn Star] as the voice-- funny, not obscene.

    Enjoy, Baby.

I tried a variety of GPS apps, including Nav4all, amAze, mapquest & others. I found mapquest to be the best as far as features, speed & auto rerouting. Unfortunately, mapquest is longer free and the link to the old version is nowhere to be found.

You might want to consider nav4all as an alternative. It worked well enough and it's still free for now.

    Aloha,

    Thanks to all!!!
Then I will do the jump. The other phones are the Moto Q, Pantech Duo, BlackJack 2 and Tilt. But I understand that the Curve is a better device. The Iphone has no service in Puerto Rico.

InfoSpace FindIt will also work with GPS...

Also has spoken turn by turn navigation --- and is free, with an really slick GUI

    Hi,
There are any of the free applications for GPS that can show the map on 3d, like a regular GPS? Like a Garmin that show the streets on 3d and not just on top view?

there is also amAze gps, but the program takes quite a while to start up, and it is rather cumbersome to use

    Re: Curve 8310 GPS Service

I really like the GPS feature in the phone. I am using TeleNav and it seems to work just fine. I am saving way more than the $10/month fee by removing "NeverLost" from my Hertz rentals.

I find that the internal GPS is also very useful beyond navigation... especially for the location based searches such as berry-411 and google maps.

    1. No turn by Turn
    2. No traffic updates
    3. No new updated maps (telenav every 3 months updated)
    4. No support

Stop being Cheap and Buy it
