Charging Pod how do they work??

How do these pods get the "juice" to the battery? There seems to be no charging connection ports on the bottom of my 8900?? I notice all the pictures show the opposite side of the phone to the USB port. Is there a cord from the base to the USB port?

On either side of the clip that releases the battery door/cover are the charging contacts for when in use by a cradle, the cradles don't use the usb ports

My Seidio cradle even allows me to charge my bb with the protective case still on it. It does a great job charging using the contacts. ~via smartphone~

On the 8900 there are 2 metal contacts near the back door latch that make contact with the charging pod. Just like the 8300 curve. I have included a picture of the tabs below.

cgaliffi appears to have a curve, not an 8900

But here is a link to the 8300 cradle

    http://www.seidioonline.com/product-...fbb8300-bk.htm

    And when it says

Charge via Mini USB cable or Home Charger (both included)

This is because you plug the cable into the back of the cradle, instead of the phone.

what makes the very cool is the clock feature when you dock it. The clock comes up and stays up for you when you set it in the dock. Great at night. You can also use it for Bedside Mode which has options to dim the light, turn off the radio, etc.

I have a "Charging Pod" for my Bold and LOVE IT! Just be aware that you need a USB power source for it. You can use a regular AC@USB charging adapter, or I suppose you could even plug it into your computer (I haven't tried that, but I doubt it will give you a data connection as well as power).

That said, don't make the mistake I made. I got it at ShopBlackBerry.com and paid twice as much as it's going for at NewEgg!
