    Changing Faceplate on 8300

I want to put a red faceplate on my 8300. I wanted to know if it is difficult to do this and are there any special tools required. Any of you who have done this please advise.

Here is a link for the 7100i with a video demo. Never taken my 8300 apart but would guess it would be about the same.

Np there Chokem, I'm a bit curious myself as to how hard it is to take apart. Would make cleaning et al. a wee bit easier at times lol.

i just recently started taking apart the curve and then reassembling it (just to put on the other cases that i painted). it really isn't that hard but it takes some getting used to.

the battery cover is the easiest, it just slides right off with a push.

the antenna cap, i recommend using something like the corner of a credit card or a flat-headed screwdriver to lift the corners starting from the back. you have to push upwards at a slight angle to unclip it from the faceplate. the first time i did this, i was afraid i would snap it, or break off one or both of the hooks, but it really does require some force.

the faceplate is what requires tools. there are two screws located on the top corners. since they are small, you need a special screwdriver (i purchased mine on ebay, along with extra screws).
*unscrew first, then run a credit card along the edges to detach hooks and lift up*
the faceplate gave me quite a few problems the first time reassembling...i screwed them in too hard, thinking tighter was better (not the case), half of the screw broke off and permanently attached itself into the faceplate. this caused one of the top corners of the case to rise up after everything was assembled, which some might not mind, but i personally had to order new housing because i wanted it to fit and align perfectly.

good luck and let me know how it goes!!
