Can't stop personal emails from appearing in messages
New to both BB and PS. Just upgraded from Samsung BlackJack/Windows Mobile to 8310. Couldn't be happier.
But... I'm struggling to figure out how to make my personal emails NOT appear in with my messages (which is my work email). I have my @att.blackberry.net account set up - which is great - but I want my personal emails to ONLY show up in that folder. I need to keep work & personal emails separate.
I've searched through past posts and haven't found my answer yet... can you help a newbie?
This will separate your work and personal... really nice!
Welcome to PinStack!
it's always greener with the other carrier...
so there isn't way to do this without a 3rd party app?
emails are treated as 'messages' no matter what address they are coming in on. Without 3rd party help all messages get put in that folder.
is there any way to distinguish them from one another in messages? e.g. color coding according to what address they were sent to?
~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~not 100% on how it looks on the 8310 but on my 8120 I have 3 folders for emails. One labeled "messages" and then 2 folders named after the email addresses they are tied to. The latter were "hidden" when I switched from my 8100.
thanks for all the help guys. looks like empower might be my best option.
Don't go to Empower just yet.
With the release of Server service pack 5 for 4.1 (few weeks old), you have the ability to move your desktop emails into their own folder, therefore separating them from your personal emails.
I don't have the service pack installed yet, so I am not 100% sure if you need handheld software 4.3/4.5/4.6...
But the 4.1.5 service pack def addresses this issue. Its free if you are on 4.1 and the capability will be built right in. Nothing to install.
Hope that helps a little more.
Press your menu key.
Choose General Options.
Scroll to the bottom and set "SMS and Email Inboxes" to "Separate".
This will create an icon for each of your email addresses and your text messages. You can then hide the Messages icon and use the new icons. I did this on my 8310 and have an icon for my SMS/MMS texts and one for each of my emails (gmail, att.blackberry.net, comcast.net).
But How Do You Get The Desktop (bes) To Be Separate. It Is Supposed To Be A Feature With 4.1 Sp5.
